Yoda advises against hosting teen parties.

Drug Free Manatee’s “House Party” video will play at the Royal Palm Theater during the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in order to educate the public about the health and safety risks of providing alcohol to teenagers and increases awareness of and compliance with underage drinking laws during the holiday season.

The video is part of a larger campaign called Parents Who Host, Lose the Most: Don’t Be a Party to Teenage Drinking (PWH). It is one of the Coalition’s most successful media awareness initiatives and is headed by the Alcohol Task force. Several Manatee County high schools have PWH posters, yard signs and provide informational pamphlets for PWH in their lobbies.

Manatee High School goes above and beyond by playing Drug Free Manatee’s “House Party” video at every home football game in order to remind parents that celebrating successes should never take the form of a party that includes underage drinking.

Back in 2015, Drug Free Manatee played the 30-second commercial at Royal Palm during the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and was impressed with the results. The video reached a captive audience of around 125,000 – that’s nearly half of Manatee County’s population!

The coalition hopes to have similar results with The Last Jedi. If you visit Royal Palm theater this holiday season, look for the video and remember to remind others that hosting teen parties is a sure path to the dark side!
