Another exciting opportunity that has presented itself to Drug Free Manatee and our community partners is the chance to provide substance abuse prevention to students attending the summer program at the Anna Gayle Resource Center in Palmetto. We will be delivering presentations, programs, and information on a variety of topics regarding substance abuse every Tuesday, all summer long to middle school and high school students.
Community partners who will be participating include the Palmetto Police Department (Know the Law), LECOM (Generation Rx), the Department of Health (Students Working Against Tobacco), The Hanley Center Foundation (The Alcohol Literacy Challenge), Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Centerstone (Life Skills Management). If a few of the programs seem familiar to the students at the Anna Gayle Resource Center, it is because they are presented to students during the school year, too. This is great way to reinforce the prevention concepts and skills introduced to them at school- there is no such thing as too much prevention when it comes to the health and safety of Manatee County’s kids!
