In addition to honoring community partners, the Red Ribbon Breakfast also serves as a fundraising event for Drug Free Manatee. This is the first time the Coalition has asked guests to contribute to the cost of the breakfast. While Drug Free Manatee continues to support and celebrate the community, it is looking for reciprocation due to an upcoming transition the Coalition will undergo within the next year.

For the past decade, Drug Free Manatee been largely funded by the Drug Free Communities Grant, a federal 10-year-grant that is sun sets in 2018. In order to subsist after its expiration date, Drug Free Manatee must transition to fundraising practices and pursuing a variety of smaller grants.

Drug Free Manatee asks that its members help with this transition by purchasing tickets or sponsorships to the Red Ribbon Breakfast on October 24. Those who are unable to attend are asked to instead contribute a donation. Please visit our event page dfmredribbonbreakfast.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets or make a donation. (To make a donation press the “tickets” button and select the “donation” option. Thank you for your continued support! With your help we can continue our work in the community for many years to come.
